Rebecka Martinsson, en ung ensamstående advokat i Stockholm, får ett telefonsamtal från sin barndomsvän Sanna. Hon har just funnit sin bror brutalt ritualmördad i kyrkan och vädjar om Rebeckas hjälp. Motvilligt återvänder Rebecka till sin barndomsstad och sina traumatiska minnen av suggestiv åtrå och beundran för frikyrkans karismatiska ledare som hon med stor möda gjort sig fri ifrån. Allt är precis som när hon en gång flydde därifrån. Ingen i församlingen tycks veta något och alla skyddar varandra. Men Rebecka kan reglerna och snart är hon inte lika välkommen längre.
