Lena har undkommit sitt våldsamma äktenskap med Hannes. Hon är lycklig igen; hon har ett nytt jobb och hon lever med sin nye man Alf. Medan Lena har byggt upp ett nytt liv har Hannes gått i terapi i fängelset och lärt sig förstå sitt våldsamma beteende. När han blir villkorligt frigiven är han fast besluten att aldrig mer träffa Lena. Men ett slumpmässigt möte leder till ett känslomässigt kaos för Lena och Hannes.
